I have just come back from barcelona..my favourite city ever! I was there as part of my erasmus placement and im so pleased I chose Barcelona to spend it. I worked for 5 months in an internship but finished at 4pm everyday and had so much time to enjoy the city.
I came in the summer..summer in barcelona is amazing, its so hot, there are festivals and fiestas all the time..and of course the BEACH! I loved ...
... I sit under my rain umbrella and read. Just about finished my book the Glass Castle. It is very good and after I did finish it I find out it is a woman's memoirs. I didn’t expect that from the stories it is about her life as a child to a young woman.
When it is hot I go in the water to my knees to cool off. Just don’t have the guts to go in those ...
... funded which, at times, has slowed the pace of construction. Rick Steve´s mentions that over the 30 years he has been visiting the church that considerable progress has been made. He also says, Ďf there´s any building on earth I´d like to see it´s the Sagrada Familia, finished.¨ After a lengthy introduction, the audioguide directed us into the Sagrada Familia. Immediately it is apparent that it is still a very active construction site with lots of scaffolding and building ...
Barcelona, Spain rnriggins... or inspired areas of the city. From the park, you get a gorgeous view of the city all the way out into the turqouise waters of the Mediterranean. We walked through the park for quite some time, and then headed back to our flat for a quick breather before getting dinner at a nearby restaurant that had been recommended. In line with the nocturnal aspect of Spanish culture, we found that the restaurant didn´t open until 9:00, so I killed some time ...
Barcelona, Spain lauramckenna... However, I paid, to show support to my fellow jews. Also, the main park of the city, Montjuic, gets its name from either the fact that the romans built a temple for jupiter on it (bcn used to be a roman port during the empire) or it gets its name from the fact that the jewish cemetary was on top of the mountain, thus the name (apparently this explanation is the favoured one as well). Cool, eh?? Another interesting thing about bcn is its ...
Barcelona, Spain sensei_mikeBarcelona!! This city is one the most amazing cities i've ever been to. Which is why i didnt stay here. Just kidding. Where to start with this son bithc. o Yes.. So, im sure most people have heard things about spain, some things it shares in common with Vancouver and a city in Amsterdam. I hope everyone is getting what im throwing down. So we arrive in Barcelona sometime after 1am, we manage to get a cab which only scams us by 12 euro.. not bad. We check ...
Barcelona, Spain natedawg... very light and very busy. We returned to our suite but I then went downstairs to watch the first half of the 9 o'clock match in the lobby. It was 1-1 when I left which France eventually won 3-1. That surprised me . We had a restless night. Every time somebody walked along the corridor outside it echoed. There was a band in the hotel next door which went on till 1am and there were some strange explosions coming from the direction of the beach. Kids letting off crackers I was told.
Pineda de Mar, Spain brianc... money is going to. Being the most important building on the Barcelonian skyline, it has to be done though. A few kilometres north of the central Gaudi neighbourhood is Parc Guell, a retreat named after his benefactor for the rich that flopped half way through construction, so the results have been left for the masses in ...
Barcelona, Spain technotrekker... came the Gaudi epitome - Guell Park - resplendent with intricate buildings (two at the entrance looked like gingerbread cakes), raised and sunken paths, Roman columns, colourful tiling, symmetry and variation - we would have missed an essential aspect of Barcelona if Michael had not asked at our hotel what we should see on our third and final day. And we enjoyed the Spanish cuisine - tapas, paella, sweets, wine, dips, cheeses - yummmmm!
Barcelona, Spain heyco... la Cote d'Azur (French Riviera), mixing with the wealthy and well-to-do in Monaco, Nice, Cannes and Saint Tropez. Ok, well not exactly 'mixing with' but you know what I mean. Anyway, Monaco was as you'd imagine a tiny rich country to be - posh-looking, flashy casino, expensive restaurants, nice coastline. We walked around for a couple of hours, Cam insisted on taking photos of cars (boring), and then lay on the beach in the sun and ...
