... I eventually get to Valencia. Good plan, eh? I'm a thinker.
I open up the stowage door and start packing it in the backpack. I left my little hand held bag at my feet. I had noticed there was a guy behind me on the phone. But there were lots of people all around so I didn't really give him much thought. He came a little closer to me and in my peripheral vision it seemed he too was putting something in the luggage area, just further down. Again, whatever. Suddenly ...
... We went into the bars though and salsa danced then drank enormous mojitos at a gelato bar and watched the young kids having very dramatic breakups and fights out the window it was quite entertaining. I loved experiencing this holiday in a different country but I did miss celebrating at home.
My last day I visited a few things like cathedrals and stuff but I was so tired from partying and I look an afternoon train to barcelona with the girl from Norway!
In 6 days we cycled from Barcelona to Valencia. We followed the coastline, sometimes via a busy national road with lot's of trucks and sometimes we escaped this by taking other (almost deserted streets), posh promenades or small walking paths next to the sea. We passed many deserted cities, which will probably be a consumers paradise in summer. (everywhere they are still building more apartment flats, in spite of the "economical ...

... shared a pan of paella that was one of the most wonderful tasting things I have ever eaten. After dinner Sarah and I headed for icecream and again my tastebuds were amazed at how flavorful and delicious the icecream was. Nothing in the states compares to the food here in Spain.
Our group spent the night wandering around Valencia, checking out different bars and exploring what the city had to offer. Around 3:30am we all decided to head to bed and call ...
... not done since 2005 at Coleman), we embarked for a "Wine and Food Fair" that was just about a 5-minute walk from our hostel. This was the deal of the century in our minds. For 10 euros, we received tickets in return for 5 glasses of wine and 5 tapas-sized food servings. At around 9 pm, this placed was PACKED! While we only had to wait around 0-30 seconds to get a glass of wine, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes just to get a small plate of food that consisted ...
Valencia, Spain jakester21... I did not go very close to the edge. While we were up there the bell rang as well, so that was pretty cool. Anyway, we had a very international dining experience in Spain, American, Spanish, Asian, and Italian. We decided not to go out that night, but ended up drinking wine ad chatting until 1:30 in the morning, so we still did not have an early night. It was quite nice and relaxing though. Read the continuation in the next entry.....
Valencia, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands hithere52... skirts, shorts, capris, and dresses. Guys don't wearbaggy clothing and it's generally tighter clothing on the Spanish men than I see in the US. I've only seen one guy with low, baggy pants and even those were tight on him. Spanish. I've been practicing my spanish of course. I actually understand Spanish better than I thought. I have more difficulty expressing myself. It's hard to learn in the summer because the only ...
Valencia, Spain and Canary Islands angelalivengood... out the next morning. Luckily there were a bunch of us so it wasn't too bad, however I barely got any sleep, the airport floors aren't too comfortable but it was an experience! Once we arrived in Spain we enjoyed the sun and the warmer temperature. It was a bit difficult at first because of the language barrier but I knew some Spanish and so did some of the guys so it wasn't too bad. We had to take the underground system to our hostel and ...
Valencia, Spain traceyraabe... First the young girls, all holding hands. Then the young boys, teenage girls to older women, men and women with small children, teenage men to older men, and then the Falla band. Every single woman had a colorful and elaborate dress, and almost all had their hair done up in a specific way, kind of like a bun on either side of the head. A lot of the men sported weavings hung over their shoulders. The degree of civic participation in this ceremony ...
