      We are enjoying the sun.

We have parked in a secure site with electricity €4 per night, which is fantastic value.

We decided to stay on until Monday when the township are having a religious ceremony to bless the fishing boats, followed by local dancing. This got the whole community out and a procession of clergy and followers walked from the church to the port. We joined in too. The people are so religious ...

... Puts some of NZ construction to shame.
Purchased a hat, looks a bit pommy but different. Cork is all the rage here. I decided against cork. This is straw??They are trying to reinvent demand for cork as the wine industry moves to screw caps. Not that we noticed here.

This is Monchique. 820m above the plains of the Algrave.
Our GPS took us up a single lane intrepid local road. A bit scary at times. Should have known better and stay on the beaten track. We got there unscathed and meeting the only vehicle on the road at a very convenient point. Otherwise we might have uncorked a cork tree. It was a bit like a James Bond drive but in a campervan, no guns involved. Phew.. Great view.

... about 1/5 price in NZ. Looks nice too. We find it cheaper to get new SIM cards than extend our MEO phone contract. Euro 10 for 10 GB. Too hard for me to figure out. Perhaps tourists don't spend more than a month here our they find WIFI easy. Any way it is a great deal, like most things here. ...

... got lots of valuable information about camper repairs and repairers, lots of contact numbers. They were all so obliging and great fun.

We also meet Alaine and Patricia (also from France) who have this magnificent mobile home. Everything you could possibly want including a smart car that goes in the boot. They gave us so many tips of where to go in the Algarve, how to get things fixed etc. Gayle was able to photocopy ...
