Accion de Gracias

... was when I called my grandparents in Florida. They were hosting my uncle, cousins, and Melanie and that my grandma had to get off the phone so she could put the turkey in the oven. For a moment I felt like I was there with them. Other than that it is sad missing out on such a great day but I took it pretty well. I am enjoying Spain too much to be all that sad. It was fun talking to my grandma. She told me that she saw my belly ...

Tonight

... Alex, Maria, Juan, and two friends from an intercambio) were all super proud of me. No pasa nada!

Afterwards we went to a bar where they played a lot of older Spanish songs…very good and upbeat even though some were from the 60’s. Also, after I left the bathroom in the bar I saw Maria standing waiting for the girls bathroom and she called me over. She had met a girl from Jaen in the line and I talked a little bit to ...

Hung over again

... ill but it was cheap and filled us up.

We went to a place called Montys bar where they had a live act on we thought it was going to be really cheesy but it turned out to be ok. Steve the man who was playing was really good and played lots of old classics man rock songs so Ian liked it and I enjoyed it to. We then stagered back to our room around midnight a little drunk again. Looks like we are fitting right in with this holiday.

Too Funny

... the ferry over to Algeciras it only took an hour and half and then we where in spain, I felt a huge weight lift as now we can relax a little. In morroco you are always on edge always watching and not trusting people that it makes you a little crazy. So we went and got our bus tickets and we waited in a little bus station cafe and had our first taste of Spanish food. Ian had some paella and I had some meatballs ...

Sunrise over the Med

... they are quite easy to make and you can add pretty much what you want to them but the main ingredients are egg, and potato. i like to add roasted pepper, cubed spanish cheese like manchego, salt, pepper, and a bit of comino (cumin). i brought some new mexico red chile with me to make a chile sauce to go over the tortilla just to spice things up; the spanish don't embrace spice like we new mexicans do.

for dinner we have been buying roasted chicken from the ...

Morocco deserves more than a day!

... well, I don´t think they really ride camels anymore in the city of Tangier anyway. After a couple more bus photos, it was back on the ferry to Spain.

All in all, here´s the verdict on Tangier. It is definitely a changing city, filled with construction of new hotels and lots of places trying to spruce up their looks. I wish we could have spent more time to actually see the real Morocco, instead of getting hustled around on the tour bus, but it was worth it none the less ...

Malaga City Tour

... for lunch is an area called Chininitos where there are lots of chairs and tables set outside for a great seafood.
Teatro Romano is another nice place to visit, heading up to the Mount Gilfrano from there allows to see the whole city underneath. Amazing view of the Torre where the bullfighting occurs.
Once seeing the precaussions was over at night, we head out to Cordoba for our last day of visit in the Southern Spain.

10 Days On A Spanish Farm

... idea.  Widespread insanity insisted that shoes would make great new age hats.  The realization hits that Robert could make a fortune in gravel production.   Robert arrives in the early afternoon.  We break for lunch.  Robert joins us for vege bed rock sorting.  Dan now fills two wheelbarrows while Gabrielle and Robert sort.  The digging is almost complete.  Dan discovers one extremely large rock residing at one end of the vege bed and a battle of wills ensues.  The rock breaks Dan's ...

Waiting for Africa......

... without even a telephone nearby. We quickly phoned Paul and told him to hurry up! We sat outside in the cold at 10p.m and waited. Thankfully it was the mildest night we had had in ages and it (only) reached a low of about 1 degree centigrade. At 00.55 we heard the sound of an approaching truck. We leapt about with glee and flagged it down, alas it was a dustbin lorry. We forgot they empty the bins in Spain in the middle of the night! And so we sat and waited ...
