    Who would have thought Tenerife would be the place to try on my 'travelling boots' once again; it is not a back packers place of discovery, adventure or contact with the indigenous population but it is away and somewhere I had not yet visited.

    The four hour flight from Gatwick was wonderful, (mainly because I had spent too long grounded in the UK), regretfully the airport assistance was needed to transfer me from the check-in to the aircraft. ...

    ... as curious about us as we are of them because they would roll on their side and look me right in the eye! They were delightful! We found a couple of pods of them and followed them for quite some time. I must say that I loved every second of it. They are mesmerizing. And frankly it was very moving. I found myself crying at one point. No idea why. Was just moved. Not sure what this says about me. But in other news I also cried at the Opera ...

    ... named after the beach we were sitting at: Playa Jardin which contained egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and pineapple - seriously worth a try if you are ever in Tenerife. Came with fries as well so went for a long walk afterwards to walk a little of it off but finished up with an ice cream - such a holiday thing to do!

    ... no energy left and the air was thin. I was so close, but the road ramped up again steeper than ever before for the last couple of hundred feet.     ... line bus to Santa Cruz de la Palma. The main commercial area has been pedestrianized so it was very pleasant roaming around the numerous tourist shops selling volcanic inspired jewellery or gorgeous silk handbags. The architecture in the shopping avenue and along the marina was very pretty with all the traditional wooden balconies painted in warm Mediterranean colours and baskets of flowers.
