Finally got to Brussels and am checked in. I've been able to hang out and get to know some of the people on the trip and everyone seems really cool. I am completely and utterly exhausted due to next to no sleep on the plane, so I will be heading on to bed. Tomorrow we are taking a tour of Brussels, so I should have some pretty good pictures after that. I'll make another update tomorrow and try and post them. I hope everyone is doing well. Today's big experiences: -Fries from a street vender w...
Brussels, Belgium jpowel Hey everyone.
Today we went on a tour of the city.
We got to see some really cool stuff, and some really old stuff.
As we left our hotel in the rain, we started by walking out to the plaza right outside the front door. There is a large statue outside that signifies one of the larger construction projects of this area (even though it happened a very long time ago). The river that used to run through this area was covered by a street in hopes of cutting down on some of the ...
Hey Everyone! I just got back to my place in Belgium from a weekend in Amsterdam. I had a blast going out with my friends and visiting some of the different areas around the city. It really is quite a crazy place! The hostel we stayed in was really nice, although we weren't there for very long. We spent the entire weekend walking around and visiting different places. Amsterdam has some incredible architecture and some beautiful views. The culture there is a lot more liberal than anything I ha...
Brussels, Belgium jpowel Hey everyone,
This weekend I stayed back in Brussels and relaxed for a few days. We went on the day trip to Waterloo last I took another long walk around the city and managed to find two of the "Pis" statues, Manneken and Jeanneke. I also found some really cool shops and some restaurants that looked absolutely amazing.
I hope everyone is doing well!

We went to a Belgian chocolate factory today. It was incredible. We learned how Belgian chocolate came into being and how Planet Chocolate got started. We also got to make some chocolates and got to try a ton of stuff for free. It was a great great day...
Back in Brussels and trying to get all my work done... Hopefully it won't be too rough. Exam Tuesday, Final Presentations on Wednesday...

... the next day we tried to hire a car...with no luck...so we jumped on a train out to Bruges and spent the day there, going on a boat cruise and wandering the streets, and eating a really yummy warm lunch alongside a raspberry beer! Bruges is a very cool place, and looks a bit like what I think Amsterdam would be like...? Then we set off back for Brussels as Grace and Milly had to fly back to Dublin that night, whereas I was staying ...
Belgium, Belgium ilovetheworld... in Europe, and I only had 24 hours to enjoy it...boy does life suck sometimes. But I figured, well I'm here at least for a day, so that's enough time to at least see "some" of the city, and I'm young so I have the rest of my life to return to Brussels if I want to and do it more justice on my next trip, which I plan on doing without a doubt. As to when this will happen is a big question, but someday I will return back to ...
Brussels, Belgium swisherd... the hannah rach combo was working with exceedingly good measure when we managed to lose sight of all bars n brussels and in desperation unwittingly end up in a gay bar somewhere n the city - of course we were more lost after downing that pint as quickly as possible - especially after one of the bars residents decided to ask us in flemish if we could make a 'groupa' - RUN! An that was it for brussels - off to spend the night on a night bus to munich for more serious drinking commitments!
Brussels, Belgium rach_mulli... of them looked unhappy and it was sad to see them being pimped out by some very nasty looking characters. Day 93 -Tuesday 16th May 2006 We headed into Lisse today, which is below Amsterdam, to visit the famous Keukenhof Gardens which is the world's largest garden. It is only open 8 weeks of the year (so we were lucky to see it but apparently it is better in April when all the tulips fields are blooming) and during that time attracts over 800,000 people. It was absolutely stunning and ...
Brugge, Belgium gemway... As you might be able to tell by the vague titles to the pics, Bruges doesn't have many attractions to offer. It is a very beautiful town with magnificent buildings and charming canals but basically, all there is to do is wander (see Pictures 44 - 49). This of course was perfect for us. It was a great day, I would recommend Bruges to all of you. Julie had been battling a headache for the past 2 days. This was not a hung-over headache but a normal headache that she had since Friday ...
