I have never been in a country where people drink and smoke that much! Bulgaria is amazing for its relation to alcohol and cigarettes. We arrived on Orthodox Easter Sunday, so most people had off and were celebrating one way or the other. The persons we saw were hanging out in small shops with 2,5 liter bottles of Bulgarian beer.

Two down, one to go: Tom and I spent a wonderful morning fulfilling the second (on my list of three) things that I 'had' to do on this trip. Horse riding in Bulgaria. It also fulfilled another longstanding wish of mine which was to drive in a Lada Niva, the car you can buy for $5000 brand new (or you used to be able to anyway). A day of R & R
A much appreciated day of R & R: I don't think that I can do much with this blog other than potentially incite a wee bit of jealousy, as today Tom and I did little else other than sit by a lovely pool, eat a very delicious lunch (for a total of approximately of $15 including drinks) and drink some lovely Bulgarian wine over a relaxing dinner. Oh, that and I had a massage from a middle aged Bulgarian man (who was very good at his job).

... aid kit. Luckily a 'nurse’ (I’m not sure if that’s what they call masseuses here, but I have a sneaking suspicion it is) came to my aid and ten minutes later I was out and very happy. Objective achieved. Or so I thought.. It has come back each day and now it has developed into something quite gross. I won't mention more about it as it is, as I said, quite gross!
