... everybody was waving. In Victoria, the village had set up a whole show just in front of the station to celebrate the event, with tables covered with old objects from the age of steam. On this continent where trains have almost disappeared, and with them the memories of the time of overland crossings, the little trip of an old wheezy and noisy steam engine changes into a lap of honour to the memory of broad horizons: forget the destination, only the journey matters!
