... of $4 (NZ) for an hour long journey, definitely the best way to get around. The Tulum ruins are right by the beach, and is the highest point on the peninsula. It really was a beautiful area. On our last day in Playa del Carmen we signed up for a day trip to Chichen Itza, Mayan ruins that have recently been named one of the modern wonders of the world. It was a very long bus trip due to lots of delays - it is referred to here as 'Mexican time' - 10 minutes is probably ...

... Billund... But I was the only one from Gothenburg. Randomly, I met Alexander, a guy I know from last year in Turkey. I didn't even know that he was going to Mexico! He had already met some people he knew, and in total we were suddenly around ten people. We all said hi and introduced ourselves to each other. Had breakfast, sat down in a lounge and just waited. At the gate, we met the others, including Robin, the only other guy I knew from before. Now we had a ...

Thought I'd pop down to the cafe for ...

We wander the Chichen Itza site with about a million other tourists. It's stinking hot. The humidity is high. Our tour guide tells us that discovery channel fabricated the demise of the world on 21.12.12. The Mayans noted this date as significant because all of the planets will be aligned on that ...

Oddly enough extremely refreshed this morning! LOL! Breakfast today was "Mexican Style" eggs (scrambled with tomato and onions) and little fried potatoes. Then we are off to Tulum today on a sightseeing mission. Should be excellent as this is an historical site that is in all the guide books. We got on the First Class ADO bus at 10:40 and headed off. Tulum is only about an hour away and we made good time. Upon ...
