... the space occupied by just three in Canada. The apartment even had an indoor garburator that took organic waste, ground it down and turned it into compost for adding to potting soil...and all this occurred right under the sink and no worms required!! Following Niigata, we spent a night in Nikko, about 2 hours north of Tokyo by Shinkansen train. Lily and Masa found us this wonderful inn, with an onsen (natural hot springs ...

Preface

Ten years have now passed since I first landed in Narita airport. I'll never forget the strange smells, sounds and sights that confronted me on that Shinkansen (bullet train) journey to my new home. Although Japan is a world away from my life now it ...

another blonde moment of stupidity!

After spending the day in Niigata city I headed to the ferry port to catch the overnight ferry up to Hokaido. The ferry left a 10.30 (or so it said on the ticket) and in the Tokyo office when I booked it they had said the it was 10.30 in the evening. So I got there around 6.30 and thought it was a bit strange that there was no boat or workers / people (the whole place was shut up and deserted). I waited fo an hour and it got dark. A couple of ...

... red. I purchased a few bottles to bring home, but now I can't fit everything in my main bag. After the festival I went with some other foreigners that I was introduced to and we had dinner at a Chinese place. The food was really good, and we ate quite a lot. We went back to drinking at an Irish pub next. It went long into the night, again I got back to the hotel at 2am.

I'll put some photos up, but my ****** photography doesn't do the tanks justice. When I got back I went out to a bar that was recommended by the hotel receptionist. It turned out that they were having a private party, but the owner pointed me down the road to another foreigner bar. It was called Northern ...

Wandering through the arena

... the league's first All-Star Game. On Dec. 29th, before the game and during halftime I wandered aroun the arena to view the big, cutout cardboard postes of the league's All-Stars. Images that screamed for kids to stand next to 'em and have their picture taken, so when they got back home they could show 'em to their grandparents ...

... Dad looked like an eleven-year old boy caught for peeping girls' change room or something. Both just laughed off, even more loudly. xxxxxxxxx After the lunch we were back to the crematorium. Dad told me that only the closest members of the family would attend this part of the funeral, so that the in-laws were barred from it. Dad was waiting inside the bus. But besides me were aunty Yumiko and her husband. I was wondering whether he wanted ...
