Further from this we saw Seikatei which is a house built in the Western Style, but with a Japanese style interior blended in which was quite interesting to see as one room had carpets, tables, chairs etc. the other had tatami mats and cushions. From here we saw Hokkaido University, where we wandered through a museum which was in Japanese, so just looked at the pictures ...

We're in Sapporo now and it's absolutely amazing. However the hostel is charging ten yen per freaking minute to use the internet - which adds up to roughly $10 AUD an hour. So there won't be any further posts until we reach Tokyo again in another three days.

... Hokkaido is an agricultural region that is know for great corn. The corn on the cob that we bought was certainly evidence of this -- sweet and succulent. A really enjoyable snack to eat while sitting in the park. By the way, corn and soy sauce go together really well -- I would never have tried this back at home. If you have never heard of Japanese professional baseball or been to a J-League game ...

We wanted to see a bit of the nature up here and so we took a bus to the lake Shikotsu-ko which is 30+ kilometers south of Sapporo. It belongs to the Shikotsu Toy National Park. The lake is surrounded by mountains and a volcano (Eniwa-dake, Tarumae-san and Fuppushi-dake). The area is even more beautiful than the Kawaguchi-ko area in my opinion. It is well enough developed to get there, walk around and ...

... Park. In Sapporo, I paid a visit to not only the festival venue, but also Old Government Building, the Clock Tower and Sapporo Olympic Games venue. I also visited a glass-making factory in Otaru. I went there with my uncle and aunt and it was the first and last time to travel with them.
