There is a whole accommodation complex at Kamikochi. As it was getting a little dark, we couldn't see as well. Luckily, we brought the overnight bag as it would have been impossible to drag our main luggage to the ryokan. All the hotels appear to be along a strip by the river. ... headed west yesterday as we are not in the area where the typhoon is expected, which is more to the east. It is raining heavily here and that will curtail today's activities but by the time we head to Osaka by train tomorrow it should be clear. The news reports that planes have been cancelled in Tokyo and it seems that Tokyo and no doubt other places have more or less stopped for the moment so I'm happy to be on this side of the country.
