    Kanazawa was an unexpected gem. We were in an actual hotel this time although the room was tiny. One way or another, G Adventures clearly want us to get to know each other really, really well.     ... to Kanazawa. Lunch was bento box, rice wrapped in sea weed and a Suntory premium beer bought at the train station. Took another 5 minute taxi ride to the Holiday Inn.
    After checking in, we had a brief tour of the fish market which is immaculate. Then it's off to a pretty authentic Italian dinner 5 minutes from the hotel. Early to bed to get ready for tomorrow.

    Met at 8.30 for breakfast, decided to an American style breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs etc it was yuk. Headed off with Akiko to Takayama,s morning market then continued on to Shirakawago to visit the folk village.     ... is pleasing. The mountaintops all have snow but none in the village. Before getting on a public highway bus to Shirakawago, we walked the Takayama morning market. The morning market had lots of street food, crafts and preserved food on one side and a farmers' market on the other side of the street.
