    ... Museum, was also a blaze of colour due to a long bed of flowers and shrubs. There was a team of gardeners making sure everything was neat.

    We then walked across to the Tian'anmen gate leading into the Forbidden City, below the large portrait of Mao. Once again, an advantage of being in the tour group was that we bypassed much of the queues for security checks and buying tickets.
