... Tsing Tao) was once an old German colony and is well known for it's beer, seafood, and beaches! "Beer City" it is often called. The Qingdaoians love to party down!

Old Town where the Germans lived is a hilly and fascinating
place--much of it was built in the first decade of the 20th century.
The youth Hostel I stayed in is known as the "Kaiyue" and was built from

Most people will know that Qingdao is famous for its beer. Well apart from the beer it also hosted the sailing for the 2008 Olympics and happen to be steeped in history during various periods of occupation by the Germans and the Japanese. Mount Lao, or Laoshan remains my favorite attraction here in Qingdao. The Qingdao Laoshan National Park covers 446 sq km and is located about 30 km northeast of the downtown area. It is the highest coastal mountain in China and second highest in Shandong Province, with the Jufeng peak at 1132 m. The park is bordered by 87 km of coastline, which means you gain a beautiful view of the Yellow Sea from nearly every hiking trail.

The mountain is known as one of ...

In order to take the cheap flight with Flyscoot, we have to take off from Qingdao. Thanks to my Air China Star Alliance Membership, I can redeem the flight using my points and it only cost me RMB120 to fly from Beijing to Qingdao.

We arrived in Qingdao Airport at 10am, 5 hours left for the next flight to Singapore. So starving that 3 of us decided to take a taxi to a popular local restaurant for a early lunch! ...
