We decided to splurge in Koh Samet (an island in the bay south of Bangkok). We stayed two nights at an upscale resort called Ao Prao. Lonely Planet gave it a good review, and we were very happy with our experience. Cottages were nice, had a view of the beach, staff was friendly, and the restaurants were great. We played on the beach, went on a 3 hour snorkeling trip one day, got massages, and ate nice meals. On the second night, for dinner I ordered yellow curry with chicken and coconut milk....

We all had been looking forward to this trip. We had seen amazing pictures of the resort, heard amazing stories and then we were ready to experience this place.
I could spend this whole entry talking about two very important issues that occured on the trip or I can mention then very briefly and then just hope that those in power will reflect upon these to things.
One. There was no Vegetarian food. Real quickly I must ...
... stalls, a new and not so pleasant sensation happens. We inhale, and have burning eyes from the woman who is throwing handfuls of chilly up wind into her sizzling wok. Our fruit wine lady takes the opportunity, hands on hips, to gossip about how inconsiderate this action is, and that she is sorry that we have to put up with it. We respond in unison in Thai, and say how its not good, and therefore is the basis for my first contribution in a Thai only conversation.

... caused a fair bit of excitement, which led to us throwing ourselves headfirst into Samet's bar scene. Most notably, Tok's, where they offer a coin toss which determines whether you have to pay for your drink or not. I bet they thought they were being SOOO clever... '50/50' they thought, 'we'll raise the prices, pull in the punters and end up ahead'. Not so, Tok my boy, not tonight! Our fondness for the Big Lebowski led to White Russians being the drink of choice ...
Koh Samet, Thailand lnb203... having sprained the hell out of one of my ankles recently - so I just squatted next to the fixture and backed my rump into what I hoped was an accurate position above Ground Zero.
Honestly, I don't know how people can stand to use these things regularly, just in terms of the required level of physical stamina alone. My thighs went into full lactate burn within something like twenty seconds; I was only able to remain aloft thereafter by propping myself against ...
... at the docks, hence the 2 hour wait. It was quite a rough crossing, the boat was rolling considerably in the heavy seas. It only took 40 minutes to reach the island, lucky I don't suffer from sea sickness. I met my friend after dark on the pier. Jumped in a pickup to the bungalow. On the way we had to stop at the national park gate. The whole island is designated as a national park, so you have to pay a 200 baht entrance fee which lasts for ...
Koh Samet, Thailand christosp... positive about the foot issue. The best part about being here is the food. I become hooked on a noodle dish or soup and I eat it for a few days until I discover something else. Perhaps, this is where the foot problem is coming from. The best story so far is our taxi back to our hotel. We hitchhiked into Ban Phe (abut 2 Miles from our hotel) to use the internet, shop, go to 7/11. When we started to back we couldn't find a taxi. We wandered ...

The generosity encouraged by Buddhism could only keep them settled for so long though, and soon I began to notice the occasional child covered in white. As it turns out the chalk and rose water were to be mixed together in their plastic tubs and then the ...
Rayong, Thailand mikeandjess... a change from A Little Moon, this place is pure luxury. I have my own room with a lovely terrace and bathroom. But I am COMPLETELY alone here; the only one on a resort large enough for 20 people. There are two workers who run the whole place, a young girl named Jane and a guy named Moo. Both really nice and helpful. Moo says, "Anywhere you want ...
