Arriving in Ao Nang on Dec 28th meant we had 3 nights to try out the nightlife before determining where we would be spending New Year. At this stage, all the advertising was centred around Dec 28th which fell on the night of a half moon. In Thailand they celebrate both full and half moon nights by having massive parties/raves on the beach and it's …

Today is Saturday 27th, we would be leaving Ko Lanta tomorrow, so we had one final day and night on the island. Overall, our 6 days here have been brilliant. A bit more chilled than Samui, with most local bars closing at midnight, our only 'big' night out was Christmas Eve. We've been happy with the resort, a typical 3 star but set on a lovely …

The walk reminded me of Waikiki beach. Lots of markets, foods, and 7/11s (guess it's ABC ...

... main deck. Maybe eighty people in there with at least the same again downstairs and a dozen standing on deck at the back with a mountain of luggage. Waiting to board we talked to a thirty something English guy and wife. He said he has a pub in Cirencester but spends a lot of the time travelling. A month in Vietnam, and after Thailand, Malaysia etc. his dad has a house in the Alps.
A woman came and asked how we were getting back. We said that we were going another ...

... the plastic chairs in Kuta we were slumped in the beanbag feeling a very long way from Uttoxeter or Stourbridge! We went to find somewhere to eat and it's not the easiest place to walk around and ended up at a rowdy Aussie bar where we ate and then left before they all got too drunk and tried talking to us! The following day was our last full day in Bali and we took advantage of the hotel buffet breakfast which we had become pros at so that we didn't have to eat until the evening. ...
