The build up to New Year

Arriving in Ao Nang on Dec 28th meant we had 3 nights to try out the nightlife before determining where we would be spending New Year. At this stage, all the advertising was centred around Dec 28th which fell on the night of a half moon. In Thailand they celebrate both full and half moon nights by having massive parties/raves on the beach and it's …

Today is Saturday 27th, we would be leaving Ko Lanta tomorrow, so we had one final day and night on the island. Overall, our 6 days here have been brilliant. ... watermelon drink. After the lunch we weren't that hungry, but we had to try a little. Lots of people, Thais and tourists, and a guy singing some Thai karaoke quite well on a little stage. Had then to go for a walk along the riverside, to a marina full of yachts and a very empty posh restaurant, and back, for about an hour. We collected some laundry from a cafe opposite our place: 40 baht for a kilo of washing, all nicely pressed, Read and ...

... spirit of travel and lit our own lantern that carried our collective wishes for 2015. 2014 had its ups and downs, major life changes, celebrations, challenges and adventures. Overall, we counted our blessings for the amazing gift of life, our wonderful kids, friends and each other.

Early the next morning we caught a taxi (they drive on the left here) for the one hour ride to the ferry dock and then took an over-crowded ferry for the 2 hour ride to ...
