    ... and then took my flight down to Santo Domingo. I watched the new "300" movie, which wasn't so great, and then got drunk for free (gotta love business class). I drank myself to sleep and woke two hours later in the Dominican Republic airport. I'm sure the Dominican Republic is great but they don't switch checked luggage over to connecting flights down here so I had to get my huge pack from baggage claim and lug it around for 9 hours ...

    ... it’s a short walk to the Colonial Zone, where we plan to have lunch, so we are soon off. It’s hot and humid outside, and the short walk isn’t as short as we expected, about fifteen blocks through a dubious neighbourhood.

    “Good restaurant! Very good to eat!” On the way a tout tries to haul us into a restaurant. Although it looks promising, we decide to do a little exploring first.

    ... for days he comes up and he doesn't really give good practices. Sooooo...rethought plan. In Don Juan there had been a weekend softball tournament with 4 teams. I've been meeting with the man that planned the tournament to HOPEFULLY plan 1 for next year with 4 baseball teams (mine, Antonci, El Cano, and La Mina). It all went remarkably well, and Lo got a real taste of public transport DR style (hey it was $5 instead of the $50 a cab would have cost).  2 hours later, we got to the hotel- I booked her in the "garden building," aka older/cheaper section of one of the nicest hotels in the city- also right across from my house.     ... We went 1st, talked about Guazumita, and answered questions in Spanish. Every time I saw him I thanked him for coming with me to do the presentation because I knew he didn't like presenting in front of people.
