... Then up the funicular to the mountain overlooking Como, not happy with view at that height we decide to walk up to the lighthouse. Snow covered following last weeks cold blast we make our way up - a long way - finally arriving at 'the lighthouse'. The view was spectacular, well the view as best it can be here with quite dense haze/smog. We could see the water but sadly the Swiss Alps, whilst could be seen, were blurry. (Switzerland is ...

We arrived in this beautiful city at dusk so we weren't able to get the most out of it. Stayed there only for one hour and we spent that time in Parco Civico capturing the flickering lights of the city surrounded by mountains. The view from the shores of Lake Lugano was fascinating. ... Like I said to Simon Hemsley, the water colours - a bit smudgy, the oils OK but the mix media - ****. Still it was pretty interesting.

Then we tried to do some Swiss shopping and really only managed to get some chocolate, which will be mutely enjoyed. Tried some Swiss watches but decided to leave it as I have already bought a 5 Euro watch at the Bologna markets from a certified Bangladeshi watch maker.

... there. Before we left for our drive to Stresa, we quickly visited the Piazza Erbe, a bustling market square. People have congregated here since Roman times, fifth century when the square was a forum. The beautiful fountain here has bubbled for 2000 years. In the Middle Ages, there were towers here (now gone) built by noble families. In the 16th century, the nobles showed off with painted palaces. Before getting back on the road ...
