... to pick up Karin's mother who is coming to stay so I booked lunch for us at the Hermitage in the Col d'Eze which was a good choice as it was a beautiful setting and great food. A bit off the beaten track so a lot less crowded than anything on the coast and with easy parking. Karin and Mark took all the photos so I guess they will be for the next blog. Back to work on Monday but it's a short week again as Friday is a holiday, 15th August. Thank goodness for all these bank ...

... leaving and we are on the wrong side of the tracks, next train in 90 minutes. Can you call a taxi - yes, but it is a busy time in Bellamo and it will be a 90 minute wait (there is only one taxi in Bellamo). Can we catch a ferry or hire a boat, maybe but it is a 500 metre walk to the ferry station. So armed with a map and a couple of directions we set off and soon find the only ferry for the day which leaves in 5 minutes, what great timing. The ...

... steak with lime and basil and we shared a Greek salad. We both enjoyed our meals and the bottle of local wine, a Chiavennasca Niuo Negri 2012 Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio. This wine is made from black grapes and the Lombardy’s version of Nebbiolo. It was a dry-sweetish white wine with an almost apricot colour.

After lunch we meandered around Bellagio. The streets here too are gorgeous and steep in some ...
