... of time and settled in for our 2 x 1 and 1/2 hr train trips. Two things that have amazed us here are 1. The number of vineyards and grapes - they are everywhere! Soooooo many grapes, no wonder local wine is cheap here. 2. The number of castles - if there is a flat or even a small ridge or shelf up high there is a castle on it!! Our Tyrolian adventure is over as we have now travelled from North to South ...

We awoke to a total cloud whiteout which cleared from the top down to reveal the Dolomites and then the city below. I think it is safe to say we now appreciate the positioning of these strongholds - being high on a hill. After breakfast we set off for a walk to a swimming lake, stroll along the lake and return. Of course that is not what happened. Just as well we are travelling free and easy with the attitude that all experiences are different and good this holidays we have very ...

... and fields of corn were for animal feed or human consumption. He said it's a tragedy that this region whose staple for centuries has been polenta is now growing its corn for animal feed and bio-fuel. According to Mario, the EU is upping the % requirement for bio-fuel in gasoline. He noted that bio-fuel is a misnomer, as each liter produced requires two liters to create (tractor, processing, transportation.) We'll add more tidbits as we have time and ...

... Lake Garda is so big that we could easily come back another time and explore other areas of the lake. Instead of trying to reach every corner of the lake, we focused on relaxing, enjoying the views, and good company. It was wonderful to spend the week with my mom, catching up and sharing delicious Italian food, wines, and views of the lake. I tried to talk her into coming to Paris with us, but real life won out over vacation!
