    Our last night in Italy (for now) we came down from the mountain ( not in his triumph) (or similar) and have spent our last 2 days on the shores of lake Garda at the beautiful hotel Gardenia Al Lago in the small town of Gargnano. Taking it relatively easy, relaxing in the peaceful garden beside the lake or on one of our 2 count then 2, balconies overlooking the lake!     ... stare at us when we walk in. Clumsily we go to our table and try and be invisible. There is a table opposite to us that smile and to our surprise speak English, well Irish that we can just understand, so now we have best friends.     This morning we headed back down the freeway towards Verona and then turned east to Bassano Del Grappa a little town on the banks of the Brenta River. Mostly an agricultural place but with a strong link to the war through the "Alpina" a group of extremely tough soldiers who fought for many years in the mountains.
