Not sure the other hotels can match this

Everything about this hotel is fantastic. We were upgraded to a room with a view over the valley via a small balcony. The breakfast had everything you wanted and the staff were extremely friendly and organised. The quality of the fittings are exceptional. Highly worthy of the grading given by travel advisor reviewers. This is our first hotel in our trip and it will make it hard for others to match.

      Just Right

What a pleasant surprise! Even after reading the positive reviews, one can't be totally prepared for the unique qualities of this hotel. They are: ideal location off the main square, yet no street noise; high tech card reader turned on the power in the room, and power shutters kept the room dark and private; the view from the breakfast room is of the old mill in the valley below, plus a private garden; the oranges were literally fallling off the trees. The staff was helpful and our room was spacious and clean. There was no view of the bay, and we didn't need one. (The weather was terrible anyway and we wouldn't have been able to see anything.) Definitely recommend.

      Fantastic !!!

Just spent three nights at this hotel and I cannot praise it enough. You will not be disappointed. The Piazzo Tasso is only 50 metres away. the central station is only 500m away. It is a short 8 min. walk to the harbour. Ideally located.

The staff are helpful and the breakfast offers a huge range.

If you are going to Sorrento, this is the hotel for you.

We arrived in Sorrento on January 5, 2005 and had no idea where to stay. Quite by accident we walked into the Antiche Mura which is perfectly located in the center of Sorrento and stayed there for four nights. The rooms, service, and location was outstanding. The breakfast was by far the most fabulous we're ever had anywhere in Europe. Everyone there was extremely helpful and kind. We will return to Sorrento and look forward to going back to this great hotel.

      Undiscovered in Sorento

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the central piazza and the train/bus station. We were very pleasantly suprised by the quality of the hotel. The rooms are lovely, and quiet, the breakfast is superb. This is a great location if you plan to use the buses and Circumvesuviana for day trips, yet it is just far enough from the piazza that it is quiet. The only negative would be if you required a view of the Bay!

      Perfect Position, Ultimate Luxury

Everything about the Antiche Mura is perfect. The location is in the heart of Sorrento, superb views and very quiet. The rooms are large and luxurious with comfortable beds and well equipped bathrooms. Amazing service - they not only turn down the beds at night, but tidy the bathroom too! Great staff, wonderful service by the pool and reasonable transfers arranged to and from Naples airport. Great buffet breakfast and every restaurant they recommended was superb. Will definitely return next year,

      Convenient and lovely

We stayed here in October based on the reviews on venere. Very nice and spacious rooms, beautiful common spaces and incredible breakfast -the best in 3 trips to Italy! The location is great, just a block from Piazza Tasso. It's an interesting configuration, there is an apartment building situated between the hotel and the pool. Nice pool and friendly staff.

A wonderful place to stay if, like us, you don't need to have a view of the bay. The hotel, which has been open for less than 2 years, is located on a quiet side street just a few steps off Piazza Tasso within easy walking distance of the local train station, the Amalfi coast buses, restaurants, shops and the ferries. The room was very comfortable with a balcony, and a good sized bathroom with tub and a multi-spray shower. Turndown service and fresh towels every evening if needed. Breakfast is served in a beautiful room It is super abundant with an impressive selection of high quality cakes and pastries in addition to the large variety of customary buffet fare. There is a swimming pool and garden. Very friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.

      Simply divine

Fantastic experience--beautiful grounds, very central location, a most efficient and accommodating staff, best breakfast buffet imaginable plus one can have a made-to-order hot breakfast, very comfortable rooms, and so on. We stayed a week at the Antiche Mura, opting for this relatively new in-town hotel (as opposed to a grand hotel where we have previously stayed in the hills with the terrific views and a shuttle service into town.) We will definitely return!

Fantastic Hotel & Very Friendly & Efficient Staff

If you are looking for a quality 4 star hotel, with a modern yet stylish feel; a comfortable & immaculate room offering tv, mini bar & en-suite facitities; friendly & efficient staff; good value for money and an excellent outdoor swimming pool with large sun bathing area then Hotel Antiche Mura in Sorrento, Italy has it all. We stayed in the hotel in August 2004 & would recommend it to anyone. The hotel is situated just off the main square in Sorrento yet is quiet & peacefull. You walk less than 1 min to get to the Piazza T. Tasso where you will find lively restaurants & bars leading on to the main shopping district & ice-cream parlours. Sorrento is superb & has much to offer & makes for an ideal base for sightseeing.

Just as good as the 5 star hotels in Sorrento!

First impressions walking into the hotel were very positive. The lobby has an incredible Murano Crystal chandelier. Staff were very friendly and efficient at check in.

The hotel is quite new and the decor was very pleasant in the bedroom/bathroom with beautiful floor tiles from Campania as the region is well know for its tiles and lemons. The room and bathroom are almost the same size, which makes the rooms on the small size (we had very little room for two oversize suitcases) but the bathrooms are quite roomy and two people can get ready at the same time without any problems. Both rooms are also very well appointed and equipped, and the bed was so confortable that it was difficult to get up very early to do the excursions.

Our room was at the back of the hotel, and we slept with the windows open, the hotel is just around the corner (literally) from Piazza Tasso, but we never had any problems with noise. Every evening, there is a turn down services and towels are changed and beds are made again if you used the room, or beds turned ready to sleep on.

Staff are incredibly friendly; they were always available for any questions and always giving us lots of tips on travel to Napoli, different excursions, hire of car/mopeds etc, especially if you made the effort to speak a bit in Italian, even that mostly everyone has a very good knowledge of English.

Breakfast was very continental with plenty of pastries and cakes, being from a Spain originally, it was great. However if you are from UK/USA, breakfast can be a bit of a let down as there is no cooked breakfast (unless you pay extra for it) and beside pastries, the selection of cereals is quite limited, so my boyfried, being irish, was not as impressed as I was. Yoghurts, cold meats, toast and plenty of fresh fruit was also available on the buffet.

The gardens are quite small but full of charm; we bought take away pizzas a couple of nights and eat them in the gardens and there was no one around to disturb us.

The swimming pool is surrounded by lemon/lime trees, but there is plenty of room for non shade areas, although these were always at a premium. There is a bar/coffee shop open as long as the pool is open.

Overall we were very pleased with the hotel as it is the 4 stars that we are used to in UK/USA and it made our holiday, and we are coming back to the same hotel next year!

... there we saw the garden of fugitives, the amphitheatre and the Villa of Mysteries. On the way out, a very persuasive salesman persuaded me to buy a statue of Zeus... NO idea how I'll get it home, but pretty!

We left Pompeii about 3, and took the train to Stabia. We got off and bought (expensive!) tickets for the cable car up Monte Faito... but worth it for the incredible views of the Bay and Vesuvius.

      From there ...
