    ... from our apartment we have a great beach, nice for swimming. The water is admittedly cool by Muscat standards but even I have had a good long swim. The area is very nice, good beaches, lots of restaurants and bars but obviously aimed a families rather than the 'young' crowd. Interestingly lots of Bulgarian and Rumanian cars here and I would agree a better choice than the Black Sea. The prices are 'European' though and twice as much as we paid in ...

    ... Russian and Arabic". I spoke Arabic in Turkey and Russian in Bulgaria, it was good for shopping.
    Bulgaria has beautiful countryside but I found the towns depressing, all those rotting concrete blocks of apartments and every pavement broken and derelict. The government must be both corrupt and incompetent and it's a tough burden for the population. There has been a massive brain drain, it's the only European country where the population is decreasing. ...

    ... time at the gym and spa then by night we enjoyed our drink at the elegantly decorated lobby.
    We decided that it was worthwhile to return and enjoy all this with sunny weather too and get a chance to enjoy the sea too!Final Realization: To people who love or need a small outing and change of scenery, weather is never an obstacle but maybe an ally and opportunity of a different sort of experiences!
