We crossed the border on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 11:25 am, much later than our original plan. We crossed at the bridge in Pharr, and have since decided we will use the Hidalgo bridge next time. It is closer and less expensive. We were delayed in Texas for three months due to our accident in Dallas. Now the motorhome is fixed and we are continuing our winter adventure.
The first few days here I felt pretty out of place and thought I would seriously go bananas if another person asked or talked about how many pitches, jugs, dihedrals, ropes, etc... Over the last week, the influx of people has become a very endearing tribe of people to me. I will miss my morning routine of unzipping the sleeping bag and tent. A nice walk through the orchard to the bathroom, a morning cup of tea in the kitchen as I send these blogs and watch the sun ...
... full of laughing and exploring. I made a sopa de refigerator for dinner- threw all of our left overs into a big pot and simmered! rice, hominy, pork, beef, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, garlic. All and all, not bad!!! :-) The night ended with a perfect impromptu bonfire on the back 9 of the property. A right good bohemian sing along around a large crackling hot prehistoric tv set. Sweet Dreams! ...
