... it was a bit cloudy and overcast and we couldn't see the peak - probably a good decision to not do the tour as well...
Catania is a nice quaint quiet town and wouldbe lovely in summer.
Caught the 10pm overnight train to Rome with Laura.
Overnight trains in Italy are definitely a lot more sketchy than in Germany.
Today was a sea day. I shall attempt to tell you how we spend these wonderfully relaxing days, doing nothing...
I usually awaken early, 5:00 or 6:00am at the latest. Today, Jim beat me to it. He had a pilates class at 8:00am and woke me. After he left for the class, I showered and dressed. I love the bath products in our stateroom. The shower gel has a strong peppermint fragrance, sure to get your eyes open quickly. That, and the good shower pressure ...
... weather wasn’t responsible for deterring me so much. But I will never know. All I know is that now, I am ready to go. I have, I believe experienced a part of Italy that will always be mine. I will always have it with me, whether I wake up tomorrow, or the day I get home with a different face or not, I did live it, I breathed it in, I took it into my soul. But yet here I sit, willing it to be Sunday. I must be crazy!

... guess is the old time tourists would say any is too many. But take away the cruise ships and you would still have a lot of Brits and French.

You know I really liked it so good.
Haifa
An industrial city that tries but really doesn't have a lot to recommend it other than some beaches. You make the best of it by trying to find interesting things to do but that mostly involves going somewhere ...
I just checked out my 'stats' section and I'm quite pleased with my little blog and how much people are enjoying reading about my travels. I have over 20 5-star ratings and over 2,000 viewings. That is so incredibly awesome!
Apparently my photos are also not so bad. Travelpod has selected almost a dozen of them to be included in the daily ...
Sheesh, my blog is turning into a Grey's Anatomy show will all these song lyrics in the title. Hey, by the way, is Grey's on? I can't believe I'm missing a whole season of my shows. (Yes, I would rather be in Italy than watching McDreamy. But it's a close race. KIDDING.)
I arrived in Giardini Naxos yesterday. I had originally planned on taking the train, but the bus worked out better so I was a couple hours early. I found the hostel without any hitches. As you know, that is rather ...

... thought it was a far distance from Jacinda's Saturday morning cycle class at the Floreat gym in Perth, he had a great cardio workout. You see, if Rick leaves a pool of sweat underneath his bike, then it should be perceived as a compliment to the instructor.
Since we had no port to disembark, we decided to eat lunch in the dining room. Up till now, it's been the buffet at the Horizon Cafe ...
After a relaxing day at sea we arrived in the port of Messina, Sicily at 1pm. We sailed past the famous statue that was the last image Tim's grandparents saw as they immigrated to America. This town was double hit during WW ll. Both sides bombed it to make the port unusable by the other.
Our guide, Giacomo, met us and we drove to ...
... ran past us pointing and giggling and hiding behind pillars. Strange. feel very isolated. Decide we need to make a speedy getaway. After hours and hours of trying to figure out a way out of here, we come to the conclusion that we are willing to pay 40 Euros more each to fly to london and then fly to Split in <Croatia. This gets us there in one and a half days, as opposed to the bus ferry train ferry bus option that would have left us in transit for about 4 days. So done ...
