Okay- my idea of an "easy valley hike" is not exactly the same as the guide book. But, in fairness, it said "the easiest" on the tour, not "easy." I also must admit that I failed to read the last paragraph that described the 1200' climb at the end of the hike to get into Champex, Switzerland. It was a six hour hike, ending by walking along ...

... headed to the little restaurant and enjoyed the local specialty of potatoes with melted cheese out on the grass. (I like Swiss food!). When we were ready to get back on the trail to finish our hike for the day, we pulled out the itinerary to find the name of our hotel. Much to our surprise, we had already arrived! Day 6 Today we started with a very sharp climb, 600 mts in elevation, to cross the Col du Ferret, and into Switzerland. It was not a very restful night as there were about 30 in our dormitory, with quite a few snorers, many taking a trip to the toilet during the night, and some leaving early this morning, but still the meal last night was great, the bed comfortable and the showers hot. One downside of this almost new lodge was it had squat toilets. Oooooooh the ...

... amp; colder. Finally reached the peak and it wasn't too cold. Went to the highest glacier palace in the world where there were pretty ice sculptures. But the most fun thing we did that day was definitely snow tubing at the peak. Basically we sit in this float/plastic thing and the guy spins out down a slope. No pics, only videos which I'm having trouble syncing ...
