12.05.09: One cold and foggy morning and we decided it was the end of our nights in campsites. It's getting way to cold to get a shower!! We headed to Ballarat, an ancient gold mining town. The town is lovely and the architecture Victorian. They recreated the old town, in a way of a theme park, called Sovereign Hill. As kitsch as it may sound, it was really interesting to see the way miners were living at the time of the ...
Ballarat, Victoria, Australia alessaJune 1st It's the night before our flight from Melbourne to Vietnam. It's a Friday night and it will be our last day of 9 to 5 routine of work, work, and more work, with the occassionaly weekend of fun. We leave our homes at 7pm for our flight departing Tullamarine Airport at 11 ...
Ballarat, Australia antonetta... and I realized how much I love sitting on my own. I thought how sometimes I can be distracted from all the beauty around me when I'm placed in a conversation with one soul. Wouldn't it be nice to just sit and be with someone and not say anything.. just be as if we were on our own amongst the presence of someone we knew. Any ways. After my meal came and I finished it I went in to the cafe to get a sweet. The owner recommend a walnut gluten free tart. I said ...
Mailing Rd., Australia carolinesheartMy birthday was absolutely fantastic!!!!! So I wake up at 8am and I hop on a train to the city and I treat myself to the Melbourne Aquarium! I saw sharks and lots of unique fish: my favorite is the elephant shark! I also paid extra to go behind the tank and go see them up close on a glass bottom boat... I got some video of it, sharks up close and personal... it was cool.. sharks are harmless creatures and truly mistaken... I hope to post my videos soon on my ...
Melbourne CDB, Australia carolinesheart... Umgebung auf einer Decke, während ein Kokaburra im Hintergrund lachte und die fliegenden Hunde durch die Luft flogen mit ihrem gelegentlichem gegackere. Toll. Oh, yeah, they showed Mullholland Drive. I was excited to see it again, since it had been ages, but my jet lag and the red wine sort of worked against me paying it enough attention. Ach ja, es wurde Mullhand Drive gezeigt. Ich war aufgeregt es entlich noch einmal zu sehen, aber die ...
Melbourne, Australia rootabergerToday Fed and Sylvia (F & S) took Stu and I to see where they used to live - they used to have a farm. We also got to visit there friends in Anakie, and then we went into Geelong and had a walk along the seafront... we saw the old restored Carousel. We then went to see Stephens (F & S's son) house, which is up for sale.... Stu and I would love to buy his house! Then it was back to Melton.
Geelong, Australia sjw_ukThis was our last day on the Gt O Rd, which is a shame as it really was lovely driving down it... with clear blue skies, multi-coloured blue seas and golden sands, what more could you ask for apart for a few days longer? I don't have the answer! We arrived at Geelong as few hours ...
Geelong, Australia sjw_uk... in a really interesting old reformed boarding school house that is now a timeshare hotel. The compound was huge, and the room we shared had three bedrooms and a full kitchen and might have been bigger than our apartment! Here is a link to the website. Click here to jump to more info on our hotel. Sure beats a dumpy Motel 6. Sovereign Hill is most comparable to colonial Williamsburg in the US. The workers are all dressed in ...
Ballarat, Australia aussiewilkins... In it Bryson explains Australia's 'Big Things'. Throughout Australia you'll find a Big Banana, Big Lobster, Big Pineapple, Big Ram....the list goes on! Some tourists make it their quest to visit them all, although we settled on the notion that they have to find us. If we pass it we'll video it, if not, we'll leave them be. Our next piece of aboriginal rock art was 'Bungil Shelter'. This was a sketch of Bungil, the creator, and his dog. Again, it was sectioned off but ...
