    Hi everyone,

I hope this blog post finds you well. So after the 8 hour train ride I'm here in southern China, in a town called Ma'anshan by the city of Nanjing. I'm here to see the sights and visit my aunt. It's really pretty here, mountains everywhere. I was planning to run up one today but my aunt called me back down because we had to go somewhere. I ended up running all the way around some lake instead. The lake was deceptive because it looks pretty small ...

I'm on an hour long taxi ride to the train station from my grandparents. The details aren't important but we're weaving through traffic on the highway and they don't have seat belts in the back. Wow I can't believe everything I had to say had to do with bugs. Hopefully this isn't a sign for what lays ahead...

    Peace and crickets,

    Tom ...

... in a crowded shopping mall, so the drivers in my hometown would drive past each other. The only drawback of that metaphor it's that perhaps there is somewhat less manners involved than what you would typically imagine in a crowds of mall goers in Auckland. My novel is going absolutely nowhere, there is simply no time to write it. There is barely any time to write this blog! So much to do, so many people to see. The snow! Oh the snow. So bleeding ...

    Flight to China

... as the plane flew over the air of China, waves of emotion driven by the novel I was attempting to read (the constant gardener) and a random violin sonata by Grieg. Unfortunately I didn't have a pen to write them all down. I recall feeling an immense sense of pride and love for the expanse of land underneath my seat when I saw the endless snow-delineated mountains ebbing away to forever and disappearing in a mist of pollution and winter clouds. For some time I ...
