Rethymnon & Phaestos
Today we spent the morning in Rethymnon, a lovely town about 60km East of Heraklion. We like Rethymnon way more than Heraklion. There is a lovely market in the old town and a beautiful little harbour area whit loads of restaurants by the water. Highly recommended!!! Coastal Road to Panormo

... brought the waste out of the city. It was interesting that the people that lived here were peaceful - they have no evidence of an army or weapons. Also, they did not have slaves like most other peoples at this time, and men and women were seen as equals. Art found around the palace was high quality/advanced - frescos, pottery, figurines, jewelry, clothing.
