Off to play in the park

We headed back into Liverpool today and to an enormous park. It is called Sefton Park. In Sefton Park there is a boating lake, a Victorian glass house (The Palm House), a bronzed statue of Peter Pan, a ...

Brilliant start.....

... and they pretty much kicked him off, the jobsworth facist women-haters. We were quite depressed with ourselves considering we then had to pay out another £76 to get down to London, but I guess if this is the worst of our travel cock-ups for a seventh moneht world trip I guess we should 'quit the *****in....'

... tradidionally given by the man to his lady friend as a sign of love and devotion.

Tonight we're staying in Bala - a lakeside town, known for it's watersports and prehistoric fish that inhabit the lake! Dinner was at a pub (for something new!) and we enjoyed Steak and Brains stout pies - Brains is a beer brewed in Cardiff that Josh is enjoying - he is also getting into the Magners and Bulmers ciders!

... well like the Who. Today they still have shows there and while we were there a man was doing John Lennon covers. Outside on the narrow street a statue of Lennon leans against the wall upon which every brick has the name of someone who played at the Cavern. At the top of the street is Hard Days Night Hotel. I love all the beatles stuff!!
That concluded our tour and I met up with my friend Derek who just moved to Liverpool for school from Dublin. Liverpool is relatively small ...

Our friends from Bewdley Mountaineering Club were having a weekend bash up in Llandudno at Louise's place. Some of them were planning to do a bit of climbing on Little Tryfan near Capel Curig in Snowdonia. For several reasons we couldn't manage the whole weekend, despite the offer to camp on Louise's lawn, perched on the end of Great Orme's Head, overlooking the Irish Sea. Instead we opted to travel up and meet them at Little Tryfan for the day.

We left just ...

Sunday morning

Good morning... These are our bedroom window sheep. They're everywhere. Speaking of sheep, here's the shepherd at the little Baptist church in St Asaph. He's in the blue shirt. We drove about and later had Sunday lunch atthe The Farmer's Arm Pub, you'll see a picture of our lovely, cello-playing waitress.

... br>But I must concede that among all those really really old trophies, the museum was ok and I learned some interressant things about the club, for my football culture anyway. After watching my mates spending fortunes on the club's megastore rubbishes, we went back into town to enjoy a few pints.

A really good place to enjoy early drinks (it was about 4pm) is definitively the Cavern Club. The Beatles made their first lunchtime appearance at ...

... thought that soccer related violence had improved greatly since the 1990’s, but perhaps I was wrong, and it was a gloomy thing to see.

Ali and I then drove the thirty miles east along the M62 to Manchester, spending the afternoon taking in its central landmarks like St Peter’s Square and Piccadilly Gardens.
