Not a bad day to stay firmly tied to the shore, this, given the date! We'd slept very well and enjoyed the brand new showers in the swimming pool building. Again, they’d provided washing machines, cookers, fridges etc, all virtually unused. Moreover, so far it was all free, as there had been no sign of the harbourmaster, we would try and contact him again later in the day.

... tortoise & hare stuff, when the wind picked up we scooted along and narrowed the gap, gaining all the time but the wind was fickle, with regular shifts of >120 so there was no way we would ever overtake, especially as the wind would then abate and the gap widened again.

... that there was a round bay near the harbour, with an anchor sign in it , denoting an anchorage and indeed, nearing the spot we saw that it looked ideal. There were some nasty, submerged and semi-submerged rocks on either side of the narrow entrance but the locals had kindly provided a transit line for us to follow ie two poles with red triangles on, when lined up one behind the other, gives the safe way in.
