... could see the entrance to the cave from the ticket booth, so F asked the man if we could possibly just step inside the cave and look round the main bit for ten minutes. This was not possible, however! Oh well.

... The food was very similar to British Chinese food, except for a simple but delicious salad containing sesame seeds. They also had veal, something I've never seen at a Chinese restaurant in the UK, instead of beef. For pudding I had 'fried ice cream' - ice cream fried very quickly in batter. ... is right in the city. We are now in Sozopol, a beachside resort on the Black Sea and a holiday destination for Bulgarians. Our first surprise is the price of everything. The first day we had some lunch while waiting to check into our hotel and we were surprised to find very tasty three course lunches for 6 lev, that's about $4.20. As for the beer and beer prices, Gallagher really is in heaven now! Zagorka beer is one of the local brews and it is very tasty! Four 500ml glasses cost ...

... between the fort and the first Bulgarian Parliament. On our first day we wondered around the old town for a bit then spent a couple of hours at the fort. The Tsarevets medieval fortress is largely reconstructed after the Ottomans destroyed it following a 3 month siege. The ruins are extensive and it was hot work exploring them (especially as it was a steep uphill walk!)
