... nerve gives out half way across, and you are marooned forever in the middle, amidst a blizzard of scooters all beeping and honking like mad.6

In the space of a few hours this morning we have decided to escape. We bought some train tickets to Nha Trang, checked out of the hotel, and are installed in our seats inside a very old Vietnamese train for the best part of 8 hours (just think of an old London tube train, with the musty seats and wooden pannelling). ...

... along the road. We stopped to top up our over the counter Valium (Malaysia Airlines are doing nothing for the fear) and made the long walk back to our hostel. Tuesday, and with no bike, our Dalat options were a little limited, with the riders booked for Wednesday morning we were determined to make the most of our time. Asia doesn't do subtle and you can have a romantic stroll in Love Valley over the heart shaped paving slabs and under the giant fibreglass ...

After a 7-hour ride on a bus with beds that where clearly not designed for northern europeans, I arrived in Dalat, a beautiful small cities in the highlands of Vietnam. It was so relaxing after all the humid and hot locations in the last week to be in a place of temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees. Initially I planned to stay 3 nights, but I extended it to a full ...

... was great. $6pp for a round trip ride in an old wooden train from Dalat to Trai Mat village. Along the way you can see tons of greenhouses where they grow flowers, fruits and vegetables. At Trai Mat there is a temple area where you can see giant wooden carvings, tall golden buddhas, a massive bell tower and a dragon pagoda made of broken porcelain pots, bottles and tiles. Up close its very interesting how it was put together.
