Santorini …… island of sparkling blue waters, sunshine, stunning scenery and breathtaking sunsets, right? Not when we first arrived!! For the first few days we weren't sure we had flown to the right island! We couldn’t even see the island at some points! And the wind! We couldn’t stand on our balcony without fear of being blown away in the gale force winds! Where on earth were we? The cloud was so thick we couldn’t see the caldera, let alone ...

... like cobblestones the world over. There is also donkey droppings all along the way that you also need to watch out for!

Checked out all the various places to eat and settled on the Taverna which had tables right on the water and a nice view of all the happenings going on. Tried the taramasalata that had a nice and spicy taste that was served with fresh bread. We also shared a lovely salad with fresh parmesan grated on top. All very delicious.

... justifying the cost of things, but we rationalise it that we are on holidays and this is what you have to pay. We have purchased a few items; one of mine is an oil painting on canvas of the Santorini buildings which I think is quite good. Relle's genuine Italian leather handbag she bought in Florence has disintegrated and was not real leather - amazing. Anyway she has bought herself a beautiful leather bag in Athens. She is tickled pink with it. We plan to ...

There's really no way to overstate just how beautiful the island of Santorini is - and this is true both from the harbour looking up the cliffs at the whitewashed town above, as well as from up on high, looking across the town and down into the Mediterranean. We slept in again today, and headed for the tender gangway around 10:30 am, after the rush of early birds and those with tours had subsided. Interestingly, we were using the ...
