... the hotel pool. And I had a breakfast of an amazing donut and giant nutella filled croissant (I couldn't choose just one!), so it was all good! After several hours lazing at the pool (and having the occasional nap) I figured we were past the hottest part of the day and should venture into town. Apparently the hotel owner drives the shuttle into town every hour, but he was never around for me, so I made my daily walk. It's only a couple ...

The "new" island smack dab in the center is quite inhospitable as it ever so slowly grows enlarging the area of jagged angular lava rock. The so called hot springs, that were today's destination, usually bubble from the ocean floor but weren't even detectable today, I suppose a good thing for us when one considers what it ...

Tomorrow morning we will be moving to the cliff house we have rented in Oia and we are very excited. We have splurged a little on this next house because May 10 is our one year wedding anniversary. We will be staying In Oia until the 12th and are really looking forward to a few days of luxury!! :) ...

... We watch two boat loads of tourists walk back and forth. A bloke pops his head out a lace curtained window above the shops opposite with a look that says much. The smaller streets that ran back from these main streets were steep at times, had greenery where possible and looked very quaint. There were many cats in the town but I did see one solution that they may use. Tucked away in a small courtyard was a guillotine. I could see one cat sitting at the base, obviously ...

... the volcanic eruption of 1613BC the ancient village was coated in a thick blanket of volcanic ash. There it lay until 1967 when it was discovered and excavations began. No one knows what became of the Minoan population of Santorini. The most popular theory is that they fled from the increasingly volatile volcano to nearby Crete. To be fair, that's what I would do.

The site, while still a live dig, is open to the public. You can walk around the raised wooden platform ...
