17 Aug. We docked this morning in Bodrum, and after breakfast we board our 12 seater coach and at 9.55 set off for our Etrim Village tour. Our driver Murat and guide Mert who has a degree in Archaeology, were very good. The info he gave us was - 80 million people live in Turkey and the main source of income in this area is sponges, olive oil, figs and tobacco. 12 years compulsory education is now in force, and a 25% tax on luxury goods like cars ...

I didn't go on land. I drank cocktails. Boredom and a free-drinks-pass result in excessive intake of cocktails. I didn't get drunk because I didn't drink fast enough. ... were here last week. (Although they missed us) Off for a walk now Old Datça was very quaint. A tourist venue!! Very pretty with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. We wandered round bought a few bits and bobs then had a quick drink then back to our building site of Körmen for Silars tea. He did good. Plenty of food in rather a desolate setting. However a good time was had by all sitting on the concrete while the wind ...

... was absolutely stunning and it got us out of the town for the day. The trip continued in a similar fashion with a bit of rafting and then waiting for 60 people to line up for a photo opportunity for what ever reason. It took 3 hours to travel the 12 km, of which, 40 minutes was rafting. However, the rafting portion was really fun and we were allowed jump of the raft and swim through calmer parts of the river. This place would be perfect ...
