The Barrell Edge that Mabel refers to is near the Black Rocks. We stopped at Cromford Mills and just took a ...

... local said to me "fairly typical Lakes weather". So I have been more than fortunate. I booked out just after 9, and one of the young ladies on reception asked how I'd enjoyed my Mountain Goat tours, and if I had visited Hardknott Pass. Indeed I had, and I commented on all the people running up and down it. "I rode my bike down once" she said. "Really?" Said I, somewhat dumbstruck for words. "Yes" she said, "it ended badly. My brakes burned out, and I could only stop ...
