It was a very early morning start to catch the train to Paris, Barbara met us at the station to say goodbye. We had to change trains at Geneva but otherwise a lovely trip, definitely 1st class is the way to go. On arriving at our very chic, somewhat unusual hotel we dumped our luggage and headed for the Eiffel Tower but not before stopping for a fantastic meal at a ...

The highlight though was our last stop at the famous (smoke on the water) Monteux. This mid size town ...

Bye-bye Fribourg, and hello Lausanne…if only for a day. We arrived midday and made the most of our time there. Many years ago, I had visited the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and thought all the Goodners would enjoy the visit. Indeed, the Swiss have proven worthy of their role as the keepers of Olympic memorabilia. The museum was modern, current in its content (with spaces already made for the next several Olympics in most of the exhibits), interactive, ...

... only French to French, English and German.

Lausanne is beautiful! It is so nice to get away from the bustling big cities to a much quieter and peaceful place. Fewer people smoke here. On Easter Sunday we went to the English speaking church in Lausanne, or as the locals call it, "the English church". We felt very welcome and it made us both miss St Margaret's but at the same time we felt very privileged to be a part of a church half way around the world.
