Siem Reap - Angkor

Don&#8217;t look back in Angkor

... tuk tuk driver want to take you to a hotel in with they receive commission. We were very sceptical to say the least, however we soon found out he was telling the truth as we got to the centre of Siem Reap. The river that runs through the centre of the town had burst its banks and many roads were waist deep in water. The following day we let the waters recede and took things easy, the highlights was a trip to a charity based masseurs which ...

... the kids provided made it all the more worth it. We came to the conclusion this must be where the family lived as well as worked - with one hammock and one platform under the roof but not enclosed with walls for the whole family. No toys to be seen, certainly no TV&#8217;s or anything of the like and yet even with their Mum working hard the kids never once got in her way and the little one only made his presence known when it was indeed time for a feed. Even that he ...

He completely understood and told the couple that they were limited to &#8220;one shot only&#8221; and flipped gave them a goofy face when they didn&#8217;t react accordingly. And he didn&#8217;t stop there! He continued to try and remove them. When I finally got my clear picture, I slipped him some cash with a wink. He offered my a flute, but I told him he earned it. Arrived in Siem Reap

The name Siem Reap means the "Defeat of Siam"(todays Thialand) and refers to the centuries-old bloodbath. <br>As with the rest of the country, Siem Reap's history (and the memories of its people) is colored by spectre of the brutal Khmer Rouge Regime, though since the death of Cambodia's leader and leader of the Cambodian Communist Movement Pol Pot in 1998, relative stability and a rejuvenated tourist ...
