... lots of artefacts that were found in the dig of Mycenae as well as pottery and bronze weapons. We did a quick walk through and then headed to the lion gate at the entrance of the ruins. The lion gate was pretty cool! A massive stone carving above the entrance. Once we passed through the gate there was a massive grave site that was really impressive. It was super windy so I couldn't get to close (for fear of falling in) but I ...

I suspected my time spent in Nafplio would be a lonely four days and sure enough, day one and the jazzy, picteresque Oldtown was covered in a thick blanket of foggy, drizzly cloud. It's never easy to get enthused about a beachy destination in the rain because if you can't sit by, walk by or swim in the sea what on earth do you do? It also comes to mind now that we are back into a city, how the last 2 months around Europe would have been if we weren't bound to cities, as that's where the train line take us. Pros and cons to both but a place where you're just a number in a crowd ...

... us to the port where we waited for our high speed ferry back to Piraeus near Athens. We took a Hellenic Seaways ferry to Piraeus, smaller and busier than the previous Blue Star ferry we had taken. Business class here was less guarded, fuller, and less attractive than the Blue Star offering by comparison. However, it was still worthwhile. The four hour trip brought us to Piraeus port around 7:00pm.

... we started climbing! It was a bit scary in places though because there were no railings anywhere! Jackie said later that had to be a tour coordinators biggest fear - we all go out safe and sound though! It was my favourite part of the trip climbing up, down and around that castle! As we came down Lynnie kept calling out to us to come down because she wanted photos of the princesses in the castle- referring to emma and her red hair which she had curled beautifully in the ...
