I went just one day to Rennes. I thought it was really pretty since all of the houses are made of
rough stones, des maisons bretonnes typiques. Aussi, les maisons sont faites
toutes un peu croches, ca donne un petit style que j'aimais bien.
Et oui effectivement, il fait beau plusieurs fois par jour. It does rain a LOT.
There is mainly what is in every french city, bars, restaurants and shoe shops!
Been chopping some wood for the fire for the last 2 days with ayms cousins and family. 1 of ayms cousins has an old merc he doesnt need, so he has told us we can have it.
Its gonna cost qbout 400 euros to get in insured, mot and on the road, but im hoping rose and mickou will come and split the costs with us.
Petrol to tunisia through spain and africa will cost about 300 euros so its not too bad, hoping to get work in south of france next week to fund it.
Last night aymericks aymericks aunties and uncles came to the cottage with ANOTHER of ayms many cousins (i'm sure he has a factory where they make them), for his grans 85th birthday. Was a good night. But as much as i'm starting to feel at home here, i cant help feeling i want to move on. The excitement of being on the road and ...
... we counted only 4 people on our walk) I popped into a creperie to try the local buckwheat crepe. I ordered one with the lot - egg, ham and cheese. Not bad but doesn't match up to anything I have had at Manison du Scooby of late. Last stop in Vitre McWifi to upload our blog!
Vitre, Brittany, France darrenhough74... beers, we went to a club that this guy told us was open until 5am, only 2 hours short of the 1st morning bus, but we werent allowed in! aymericks long hair probably or maybe too drunk, either way we ended up getting a taxi back to st thurial which cost us 65 euros!!
getting bored of st thurial now, hopefully we,ll be moving down to nantes in the next 2 days, either hitching or a bus if its cheap!
... round of Affligate please!
Awoke early to freshly brewed coffee and cereal in bed - can't have eggs everyday! Kim convinced me to go for a run later today and not this morning - her reason she was hungry, but I think she was just being lazy :) Not 100% sure what lay ahead today as we had only planned as far as Vitre, which is said to revial Dinan in the mediavel town alure.
... seule tour. Tomorrow, I'm going to Mont St Michel, and Saturday to Chartes, but I'm still trying to work out the details for 2 days in Tours, in the Loire valley. This afternoon, the weather gradually improved and it quit raining, and turned out to be a great day for wandering around Rennes. Rennes is a very lovely city, and didn't suffer as much bombing in the war, so it has kept many of the old half timbre buildings and cobble stone ...
Rennes, Brittany, France cleanslate... tell tales about Merlin. It was pretty cool to listen too. After the view, we headed down the side of the hill and through some fields back to the car. It was a good walk. After we met up with my Dad, we drove back to the start of the forest and found Merlin's Tomb, which was very well kept and we found the Fountain of Youth. It was pretty fun to see. I wish that my older sister could have seen the forest because she loves the stories of Merlin and King Arthur a lot, more than I do ...
Rennes, Brittany, France jess06... this next week to pass because then I am Vienna-bound for my winter break. I'm looking forward to seeing a familiar face and to share our stories of our first month abroad. I'll begin with last weekend. With my program, we headed out, at 8:30 in the morning, for St. Malo and Mt. St. Michel. I enjoyed my morning because not only did I have an unexpected coffee, I also had a Brioche Chocolat. Basically a large ball of bread with chocolate chips baked ...
Rennes, France jess06... lettuce on the side and it was a really good first dinner. We had eaten cheese after the quiche and dessert after the cheese. It was very French. I ate a yogurt with chocolate chunks. Quite tasty. I'm going to get off track of what I've done to tell you about my family. So, as I said, I live with a family of four in Saint Grégoire, a suburb of Rennes. Jacques and Veronique are my host parents. They have two daughters, Camille, 16, and Lucie, 19. They have a beautiful ...
