Angel Inn Thirsk

Autumnal fresh day out on the moor, over-looking satellite centre across the Dales, very surreal! Lots of autmn heathers out amongst the multi-coloured leaves wilting off the trees. Pleasant stream, building dams, children's laughter, dogs being walked, lovers hand-in-hand.

... decided to go inside for a little bit more of a peek but me and Noma marvelled at it from a far. I think Noma was still recovering from the viking poo!! She had a funny smile on her face for at least 4 hours!! Anyway enough of the poo!!

After a short walk around the city centre, which is full of medieval architect, we jumped back into the car for the 2 hour journey back to the caravan!

Headed Noth today to visit thecity of York. It is surrounded by the old Roman city walls, with the main attraction York Minster. The Minster is the largest Gothis Cathedral in Europe and has an amazing amount of stained glass.
The day started 'sunny' but we had some rain ...

... and completed in 1286. It's walls contain some of the Minster's finest carvings (some of which are a little scary), most dating from 1270 to 80.

We left the Minster and headed down into town. We crossed the river Ouse (pictures of the geese). We stopped by a deli and bought a brie and bacon baguette which was wonderful! We stopped by a Poundstore (everything a £). We bought some ginger nuts (our favorite cookies here ...

Well we have decided as budgets are tight this year that we would do extensive tour of the wonderful North Yorkshire region. Today was one of those magical days you only get 2 or 3 times in your life. Georgie and Me took a big step and headed for the chip shop in Pocklington. The ride was a buzz of sounds life strange smells and odours. We were so excited we nearly crashed the Vaulxall viva. Georgia was a bit naughty ...

... and a full English breakfast however you want it. Eat the ham, the ham in Yorkshire is very good, lean and not smoky at all.
We walk out our front door and turn right up Bishopthorpe and in about a block is a little high street that I want to box up and take home. In a long block there are two green grocers, a butcher, a pharmacy, two liquor stores, a small, chain general grocery store that stays open ...

... 8217;ve managed to wire into a tacky boom-box we bought from Asda about 2 years ago. I even lit 3 candles to add to the ambiance but I think the bottle of dark rum and 3 litres of cider are going to add more to the atmosphere than any of them.

The I-pod has now switched to the weird Spanish songs on the Devendrha Banhart album that send you off into dream world and my mind races, my lips curl up, and I smile. There are great things to come.

... never really was my idea of fun. But heh! We all have to bite ass somewhere along the line to get where we wanna go. I can’t complain, my wife Nicki and I have our tickets to Ryde, leaving to the city in the clouds La Paz on 26th September, before flying to Panama on the 14th November.

It was now only a few days before Hobart saw the yearly return of a most popular and jolly fellow from afar, someone bringing gifts and very partial to fruit mince pies. And then only a couple more before Santa came. I needed to be up very early the next morning to return the car, sort through the worldly goods I had acquired since August and high-tail it to Heathrow because, unlike Santa, I didn’t have a sleigh.
