Woodlice on the face. That was my wake up call. And people complain about alarm clocks. Very tired now.
Pretty standard day though. Funny bit was when we were on the beach and instead of finding a bin we put our melon seeds in a hole we dug in the sand. At this point a crazy Spanish lady started ...
Nador, Morocco oyvindsandveDay 6 September 10, 2007 23:59 This morning I did manage to get up for the sunrise. Last night was a distinctly lonely evening, and there's nothing like the freshest of starts for the morning after a night like that. It was a beautiful sunrise, and enough to make me feel profoundly guilty for missing a single one, let alone the five previous and every one in my life before that. There really is nothing more refreshing and beautiful. I didn ...
Still in the Mediterranean, Morocco randiandersenWell I have finally topped a small goal of mine, I have now visited 50 countries (countries according to my country book)...(I haven't completely updated all my trips on here, hence the 43 rather than 50) It was a great weekend! It is a completely different lifestyle to ...
Melilla, Spain papayaprincess... sink and crumbs on our beds and nut shells under the beds. We got to have our first experience in a public shower house that a lot of Moroccans use. I was the only girl in sight so I got a towel put over my door so no men could look through. We bought our really expensive ferry tickets to Spain´s mainland here (over 60 Euro each one way) and just wandered. The whole city is built on a huge lagoon and the locals wander down by it in the evening.
Nador, Morocco siegfried_h.After doing nothing at the beach I hopped on the overnight ferry to Melilla, a little Spanish enclave within Morocco. Getting on the ferry I saw a sign that said "no knives" and so I told the guard checking my ticket that I had a pocket knife. "Big or small?" he asked (like it would matter if I wanted to attack with it!). "Small" I replied, "to eat" (I wasn't quite sure how to say "to prepare food" in Spanish but I think he worked out that I'm not the sword ...
Nador, Morocco beck... After a clear hot day the night was cold and Yoong had to wrap the table-cloth around herself. We got back well after midnight and had to wake up the hotel manager to let us in. He hadn't joined the rest of the town at the kasbah. Before the show tonight a tout succeeded in getting us into his shop, which, of course, he called a "factory". At first it was just "shop with your eyeses (sic)" but soon became a ...
Chefchaouen, Morocco raymondc... Yoong's coffee at Martil. (The waiter kindly replaced it.) I'm getting clumsier than ever. We have running water in our room - V whether we want it or not. It can't be turned off! At least it's a small silent stream rather than a dripping tap. I pointed it out to the hotel manager when I first saw the room his answer was "No problem." And it really isn't. He also showed me two identical bathrooms ...
Chefchaouen, Morocco raymondc... went to a little restaurant for a small mixed salad and a chicken couscous, which was also very good. This town is small and we'll probably see the same things again tomorrow and the next day, but it's a great place to be. There are a lot more tourists here than in Tetouan. It must really be over-run in the high season. We are really lucky to be here at this time of the year. Everyone says it all gets more expensive in July and August and also very hot.
