... days to clean up. Every time we thought we'd cleaned it all, we'd spot another drop! Anyway, not to worry, Hugh came out of hospital the next day and has since made a full recovery, with just a splint on his arm to get a tiny bit of sympathy from passers by! A little inforamtion about Cyprus, then! Known as the island of Aphrodite, Cyprus lies at the crossroads of three continents, where east meets west. You will find it floating on the waters of ...

... gotten itself in my hair, on my clothes, and refuses to be washed off. Looks like I'm sick of cake and Bangladesh. I've now been home for a week and it's still difficult to identify exactly what went wrong in Bangladesh, why I was so unhappy, and why I simply couldn't make it work. Returned to Berkeley in contrast, where I should have cause for sadness (since my nomadic life has come to a screeching and premature end), the change in my mood and interactions, for the ...

... of the women's bathrooms, sorry ladies. Micki is editing this, and I would say, carry tissues! In Switzerland, we had our first encounter with the self-cleaning bathroom. Laney and I went into this futuristic looking metallic bathroom that cost 50 Swiss centimes. When we got in, it said there was 15 minutes until decontamination. The room was a little damp and the toilet paper was tucked up inside the wall. We found out that after each use,, the bathroom shut itself down and gives ...

Wiedziałam, że bez Ziggy będzie mi w Stanach znacznie ciężej. Poczułam dziwną pustkę w środku. ENGLISH: At 7 am a sound of suitcases being rolled down had woken me up ...

... regions where almost all the shop and road signs and ad hoardings are in Spanish, Chinese or Korean etc. It is a fascinating if unsettling experience. I stayed with an old uni friend Toby Harris and his wife, Tabatha and their two daughters, Teah and Skye in the South Bay region, in the south of LA. The Harris family live in Hermosa Beach, one of a number of ultra-chic beach communities that stretch contiguously down the ...

... country. It doesn't really bother a lowly traveller such as myself as I have all the time in the world (and it gives me more opportunities for reading), but I can perfectly understand why Americans would rather fly. It seems the only reason to take the train in this country is if you want to see some nice scenery and indeed, some people I have spoken to are doing just that - a trip through the Rockies and back in the same day and some friendly conversation with ...

Best Place Yet?

... We got our taxi to the Red Lion hotel (not like the pub in stone!) which really pleased us. It was only a stop off for tonight as we are leaving for San Francisco tomorrow. We have an ironing board here so managed to do some ironing which was worth it! We nipped over the road to this cool little American Diner for Nacho's and beer before going back to crash.
