... before an eruption is likely to occur. The volcano would be a geologists dream! It was interesting seeing up close what we had been admiring from afar each day across the water. Nearby at Palea Kameni, we had time for a quick dip jumping off the boat into the not so “hot” hot springs created by the volcano! It was around 18 degrees, and even then there were only pockets of warmth. Still, this was the only swim we got to have during our stay in Santorini!

This morning we went to the famous Knossos palace a civilization that predates ancient Greece built around 2000 bc. It was quite impressive to see their houses with paintings on the walls. They seemed to have an advanced civilization for their time. Their language has only been recently decoded, but not yet published.

... they are still finding the recovery very hard. However the Greek people we met were very friendly and very hospitable. In Greece more than anywhere it was a pleasure to tip a few extra Euro's for the genuine service we received. Eventually the bus arrived at Thira and we had a great late lunch in a taverna overlooking the bay looking towards the volcano which last erupted in the 1960's. Thira was very pretty as well but not quite as picturesque as Oia. ...

... We thanked him profusely and promised to write a rave review on Airbnb for him, then got in our taxi down to the pier. Thankfully we were on the High Speed ferry back to Athens, so it only took 4 hours, and we all slept most of the way. It was late afternoon by the time we got back to our hostel, so we all showered quickly, and then Jess and I took everyone to the rooftop bar, where we had some Pimms and delicious nuts and watched the sunset. ... When the time came we got a taxi to the airport and flew to Athens, where we spent the night sleeping in the airport. Not the most comfortable of nights, but we saved a lot of money doing it. :) Greece is a beautiful country! I will definitely go back one day! Best thing about being in Greece was hanging out with some great people eating amazing food! I feel honoured to have been a part of Maren and Saleh's special day! Thanks for having me guys!!!!! ...
