... before we had another tasting and a cheese board. All this overlooking the lovely orchard and distant mountains (it was sensationally sunny and hot). After our liquid (and cheese) late lunch we headed to Trapiche for another tour and tasting. Apparently the biggest exporter of Argentinian wines, the vineyard was homed in a beautifully restored set of buildings and definitely had an up market feel. ... singing along to Jolene etc! Great times and a brilliant introduction to Mendoza.

The next day was the wine tour. That was so much fun. A whole day of trying different wines and learning how wine is made. I've been to vinopolis a few times, but obviously it did not compare at all vs what you see, learn and drink in Mendoza. I absolutely loved it. Most people do this tour on a bike. After a bit of a trek ...

Not really sure how we manage to go through the vineyards ..but we ended our bike journey where we started. Sat down for a nice melon drink which we drank so rapidly, then realizing thre is actually an absinth in there. That really killed us ofJ

... a tourist in Argentina.

After a final stops to see the city from the highest point we were driven about 25 minutes south to our home for the next three nights, Club Tapiz. This beautiful 11 room lodge is situated on a vineyard and they have a first class restaurant on site that features food grown on the property.

Our lunch was the best food we've had so far and that was just a sandwich. The 6 course dinner menu looks spectacular and it's on our schedule ...
