Mendoza

The province of Mendoza produces 70% of Argentina's wine. Well worth a visit.

To reach Mendoza city we caught the 7.15am bus from Cordoba. It took 11 hours followed by a 40 minute walk (with backpacks!) from the bus station to our hostel. Imagine our satisfaction then, when we arrived during the free wine happy hour and in time to register for the all-you-can-eat BBQ. The beef and chorizo were exquisite. It was a neat little ...

... it all the time. So we contacted the chef from last night and got the word on where to go. Over the course of the 1 mile walk, Jerry and I both felt like we were doing something completely illegal and illicit. As we approached the McDonalds (no surprise this is where these guys find the Americans) they were lining the corner offering to exchange. We'll try to forget our memory of Tom losing his camera to ...

... slightly more presentable. There was a huge gorgeous park that we spent the better part of Sunday walking around. The towns seem to shut down almost completely on Sundays, and lots of people were strolling the parks, walking dogs, playing with families, or at the local football match, so there was a really nice atmosphere in the park. And an amazing view of the Andes from there too. Chile is only ...

Bike and Wine Tour

We spent the morning at our hospitals. Lara and Aliza didn't get to see that many patients as it seems the national strikes are still having an effect. I got to observe an orthodontic clinic where I saw some interesting braces, some that looked more like torture devices! When we got back we went on a bike and wine tour. A taxi picked us up and took us to a really pretty little town where we picked up our bikes. After a (very!) short bike ride we reached our ...
