Un día cualquiera en la oficina. Suena mi móvil y recibo un mensaje que dice "La selección para la beca en China ha sido resulta. Has sido seleccionado final, enhorabuena! Consulta tu mail". La respiración se me corto y volví a leer el mensaje. Era una noticia que esperaba desde hacía mucho tiempo con la misma ilusión que esperas la nota de selectividad, o la contratación a un puesto de trabajo que quieres. Y la verdad que me sent ...
Pamplona, Navarre, Spain abside... used to be a part of Cataluña (so the people there still speak Catalá, just like in Barcelona). We checked out a 13th century castle–no big, becoming a regular part of my travels–and then walked around the town a bit, passing by another huge castle and going into a gothic cathedral (also a regular part of another day in Cataluña/Europe).

This is the part where I begin the 24 hours in which I check two things off my “top five things ...
Pamplona, Navarre, Spain richfrohl... only time I want to spend spooning a perfectly good stranger. Unfortunately a male stranger.

I´m staying in a Spanish family´s house here with 6 other Americans. Thankfully 2 of the people have a good handle on Spanish because they don´t know any English. We have a balcony right over the bull run street and all the madness. It is a pretty sweet spot that we were lucky to get. But if you´re a light sleeper, then it might be hard to sleep ...
Pamplona, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands travel_lover87This stage has no difficulties, the landscapes begin to change, we left the woods behind us and we begin to see beatiful fields til we reach our destination.

In Los Arcos I don't recommend the main refuge... when we were there we saw lots of bugs, an unpleasant smell, a small kitchen... the village is not very impressive but the main church (worth to see)
Los Arcos, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands danny23dcWe'll remember this stage for the amount of mud we accumulated in our legs. It was an awkward day, at least this stage was pretty easy but the beginning (a huge climb with a lot of mud).

We founded the main refuge in Estella newly renovated, clean, with all the facilities... a nice place where we met people from Italy, Germany and New Zealand , we decided to cook together a huge tipical spanish omelet!!! We also took a walk around beatiful Estella despite of the pain in our legs!
Estella o Lizarra, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands danny23dc... I realised that I'd mistaken the departure time for 20 mins - luckily LATER than what I'd thought! I did feel a bit guilty and sheepish though! At least Vivian, Sebastián and I had a chance to talk, something which had been hard to do just between the three of us over the weekend. After two farewell hugs from Vivian (and one also from Sebastián of course), my whirlwind trip to Pamplona was over and I was on my way back to Barcelona... about 6 hours away.
Pamplona, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands melisa_vazquez... night than the pictures do! I'm glad that I was able to make it out to Pamplona for the running, but after being in the middle of a crowd of severely intoxicated Spaniards, I can honestly say that I would NEVER go back to the running of the bulls EVER again! We were lucky that we were with several males from our program because they were able to shield us from the overly obnoxious and inappropriate Spaniards.
Pamplona, Navarra, Spain and Canary Islands msjackson... it again!! We had one more day in Pamps just relaxing and sorting all our washing out and then said our goodbye to Querps, Hillsey, Spider and Pies and headed back to Barcelona to see zeke but he still wasn't fixed was still waiting for parts. More dramas while driving back, Cy snapped a fan belt and had to rig up a temporary one to get to zeke. He made it to Zeke alright and we camped on the street by the mechanic to get a new one in the morning.
Pamplona, Spain kimandmadsLorri and I ventured down to Spain for a few days. We had a crazy bus ride with a drunk Brittish man who goes down there year after year. He was telling us how to be more clever than the Bull. We didnt have a place to stay in Pamplona and slept in a Atm Booth. i got up the next day and did the run at 7AM.
Pamplona, Spain itenerant78... group hug and together walked to the starting mark. Bárbara and I looked at each other in amazement, were they really that intoxicated to not be aware that the bulls had run for the last time that year the previous morning? Our amazement turned to panic, were we that off the mark that we had found ourselves in the middle of the street and over a dozen beasts were going to stampede taking us with them?! We were 18 after all, none of the above would ...
