Today we visited the Vermont ski museum. I learned about two main things: Perry Merril, known as "The Man Who Put Vermont on Skis", and the 10th Mountain division, a ski unit in World War II. Perry Merrill Perry Merrill was a forester who believed in public use of public land. He was appointed State Forester in 1930. ... we passed the others, we detoured through a cow pasture, and had to go under an electric fence.
Meanwhile, the other group (Dad, John, Gregory, and Michael) had some trouble finding the entrance to the path, but once they found it, he met us, we had lunch, and we continued on our ways. They apparently had no problems after they met us, obviously due to our superior trailblazing ...

Today we saw the home of Chester Arthur, our 21st president. He was one of only two presidents from Vermont, the other being Calvin Coolidge, and according to my father, his main claim to fame was "Not being as bad a president as everyone expected".

Though the date and place of his birth are disputed, it is generally agreed that he was born in late 1829-mid 1830, ...

... Hiawassee. Had a 12% decline down an area-first time we have ever had to use the camper brakes. Rob and I are sitting in front of a convenience store so we can obtain wifi. He is working and me on my blog. Yesterday he spent the morning at the library for the same reason. Cell service and wifi are just not available in many of the areas we have camped at. ... a Black Diamond to take us overtook the Gondola. It was a lot of fun, and the weather was a little cooler than yesterday, but it was still clear.

Back at the Lodge, we dropped off our boots and skis at the Valet, who would return the rentals for us. Then we headed back to the room to change and pack. We grabbed some coffee at the little store, and I tried to find a knick knack, but couldn't really find anything. ...
