... believed to be haunted by the Boruta devil, who was given this castle as a thank you from one of the Polish kings, Kazimierz Wielki. According to a legend, Boruta used to be a really cute young man who would seduce every single female person in town.
We left Łęczyca way too quickly and made our way to the village of Tum, which is famous for its medieval collegiate church. To our ...

Zborowskie, Łódź Voivodeship, Poland elvis_kopytek... prisioners, about 90 percent were Jews from almost every country in Europe. Auschwitz II and the remains of the gas chambers there are also open to the public. The Auschwitz concentration camp is part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Most of the buildings of Auschwitz I are still standing. Many of them are now used as museums.
Popielno, Masuren, Poland bernardmartinOne of the biggest Pilgrimage sites for the Polish people. It was one of the few cities in Poland not touched by the Communists. The image was painted by St. Luke, the scar on Our Lady's face was from a Communist Soldier when people were trying to hide the sacred icon. The Soldier sliced it with his sword, artists have tried to cover the scar up but every time they do the scar comes back.
Chestahova, Poland scboettcherWe left this morning from Teresin traveling to Warsaw. On the way we stopped at the church in Pruskow hoping that there would be more records for the Majchrowsky family. The priest was very nice and let us look at the books, but there were no entries for the family. We took some photos and drove to Warsaw. It was a beautiful day , although a little cloudy. We walked around the old town and then climbed 154 steps to the viewing ...
Pruskow/Warsaw/Pulawy, Poland patuniaWell, this was a once and a life time experience. I am glad i went, i had fun , but i am also glad to be back in Dresden, for just a few hours. What can be said? For a start, the Polish are absolutely out of control with the drunkenness. For this reason alone, i decided NOT to get drunk and NOT to drink. I think that being there and being sober , made things a lot more enjoyable. I spent a lot of time walking around the festival by myself ...
Kustrin, Western Poland, Poland johanna85... as the main course was over everyone was up and dancing. They basically danced all night long. Everyone was dancing for about half an hour and a couple of Conga lines snaked their way around the tables and then everyone sat down for dessert. There were bottles of vodka on the table and some soft drinks. We all tried the vodka, Danny and Paul in particular. There was more dancing with everyone dancing in couples ...
Lodz, Central Poland, Poland dannyandkaren... all the artwork on the first floor is either unlabeled or only in Polish, making it difficult to appreciate. And if you've been to another museum, then this will seem pretty limited in value. However, it does have two major pieces. DaVinci's "Lady with an Ermine" and Rembrandt's "Landscape with the Good Samaritan". The Lonely Planet guide calls the DaVinci Polands most famous painting, as it proceeds (and perhaps?) supersedes the Mona Lisa in artistic innovation. I ...
Wieliczka-Bochnia, Poland tmat... the part we saw. Everyone was pretty quiet here except for a woman in our group (nicknamed interrupter) who yelled for people to move so she could get a picture inside the barracks! There always seems to be one in every bunch. We then went over to Auschwitz Museum where Tunde said we could have as much time as we wanted/needed here; even though we were given a guided tour. What added to this experience was our female guide had an uncle that was ...
