        ... international date line and the equator for the first time. Elias did not take well to the relative heat and humidity (which are not bad at all) and kept trying to climb into the air conditioners, but we were eventually able to make our way through the visa line, claim our bags, navigate a hall of hyperactive moneychangers, and grab a taxi. Note to future visitors – first go to the desk where you purchase visas on arrival, then get in the visa line.

        ... At our lunch stop,we were able to walk into an opening within the island, an opening that was open to the sky. Inside there was a small river, and a grove of what I learned were mangrove trees. Beautiful! We also saw several types of trees with a vast system of arial roots.
