THE DAY WAS VERY EMOTIONAL

... we visited in total silence, in awe, in concern and in tears. The
woman superintendent of the cemetery provided us a detailed tour AND EXPLANATION OF THE MEMORIAL, along with a 90 minute detailed overview of what happened at the battle of the Bulge.

We then walked within the cemetery, amongst the 5,076 CROSSES AND STAR OF DAVID.

... and leisurely lunch (an hour and a half!). Marge headed back to the hotel to recoup, but I wanted to walk some more. Just before lunch we had stumbled upon the major shopping street. I went back to window shop and found Metz's version of Pioneer Place called St. Jacques. After I wandered the mall, I stopped at a cafe for a beer and some people watching before strolling back to the hotel along the river. We've seen about all there is to see in Metz. Tomorrow we will visit ...

Women most of the time wanted to learn something, get over a difficult relationship, figuring out where they were in life and what they wanted in the future! Most of the time they focused on socialising and supporting each other, whereas guys most of the time were the lonely heroes.

(Just my impressions, they might be different to everyone!)

From Epernay we continued heading east on our road trip in the direction of Luxembourg. Luxembourg City was our destination for our camp overnight, and we had arrived at the campsite and pitched out tent by early evening. We were becoming experts at taking down our tent and putting it up again in a new location, we could have it fully pitched up or folded away within 15 minutes.

... and a few others. The town its self was relatively disappointing. As a World City, we expected a lot more. It really appeared a bit grotty. Thankfully, the surrounds and monuments were immaculate, and sobering ... as with our visits to the British, Australian and American sites in the early days of our European trip ... too many dead; what a waste.
