Long day

It was a long day of driving. We left Regina in early morning and passed through more prairie land and wheat fields into Manitoba. We drove through fields of wheat, some harvested and some awaiting harvest. We saw a few fields of corn, sunflowers, potatoes and one large field of cabbages. We ...

... bekommen.

We also crossed our first time zone! I’ve never driven across a time zone before.. Strange thing.

Manitoba is very beautiful this time of year with the field full of bloom. We have never seen should color. The Flax, deep purple, canola is bright yellow.
The roads are good and the weather is cool.

... this morning. Yum!

We're staying at a homey B&B tonight in Kenora. It's the first major 'town' after leaving Manitoba. Looking at the map, there is still quite a bit to go to get to Ottawa... Never really realized how big the province is. We crossed another time zone too, but that just means going to bed one hour earlier which suits us just fine.

After about a few hours of the tech guy checking the signal strength through his computers etc. and after I had moved closer to the tower (no trees either) the problem was solved by bashing the pole (which is usually my solution to things as ...

MIGRANTS WHO SPECIALIZE IN THE RAKING OF PINE CON-

... To cap off a great day of work, we pulled down the top of a saskatoon tree on the island and picked and snacked on the many small, but sweet, blueberry lookalikes. We migrant pine cone rakers earned $80 each on the day. And we ran to enjoy our last dip in the lukewarm Lake of the Woods. Johnny and Adam jumped on the island trampoline to get sweaty. Adam did backflips off "Cocktail Rock." So, it was with $80 and one cent that I set off from ...
